Assuming that Avengers: Secret Wars will be based on the comic of the same name, Captain America and Iron Man could return to the MCU via a brand-new version of Captain America: Civil War.

So I was happy to hear about the streaming series plans, but am even more thrilled that it’s going to launch a film franchise instead - although ideally, I’d be happy to see the film franchise also spawn a spinoff streaming series for longform storytelling as well, because I’m a greedy fan who wants more and more! (Full disclosure, I was writing a spec treatment for a War Machine movie that I hoped to complete and send to Cheadle, but obviously it didn’t happen and I’m excited about Armor Wars). Secret Wars (2015) A new Armor Wars mini-series appears as part of the 2015 Secret Wars storyline. It is written by Warren Ellis.It takes place after Ultimatum where Iron Man tries to find his remaining armors and save his enterprise.

I’ve been a big fan of Cheadle’s work since Boogie Nights and Out of Sight, and have been waiting for War Machine to get his full time in the spotlight with a solo movie. A four-issue mini-series titled Ultimate Comics: Armor Wars began in September 2009. There’s lots of rich territory to explore in the source material, including background that comes back to haunt Rhodes and make him question some of his choices and missed opportunities for love and a family. If this website makes you happy, please donate a little of your income to keep ReadAllComics alive. Personally, my biggest hope for Armor Wars is to see Cheadle’s Rhodes get his full due as a character - that means his goals beyond the supporting ally we’ve seen so far, and maybe some examination of the life he might’ve had if things had gone differently and if he’d not been forced to give up certain things in his personal life.
With his own reputation and legacy destroyed, and with his obsessive desire to outdo Tony Stark, it would make sense (and be great fun) to see Hammer involved in any theft and attempted upgrades to Stark’s armor. I’m hoping Sam Rockwells return to portray Justin Hammer, Tony Stark’s inadequate rival with delusions of grandeur who was arrested after the events of Iron Man 2.
